Carrie Tullos - Founder & Owner

Being born and raised in the south, it is no surprise I have an affinity for all things Louisiana. From southern cooking to brass music and historical architecture, I’m a Louisiana lady at heart. My city girl came out in college while living in Manhattan and interning for fashion and art icon houses. After graduating from Louisiana State University with a major in Business Marketing and a minor in Mass Communications, I ventured down south to New Orleans where I managed a lifestyle-brand store, Anthropologie. In the winter of 2014, my husband Shea and I came to Denver looking for new opportunities. I set my sights on the insurance industry and built a book of business by connecting with the community. After a few years under a corporate overlord, Dustin and I broke free and formed Insurance Collective to better serve our core customers.

AUTO INSURANCE

Auto Insurance Primer

Auto insurance protects you against financial loss in the case of an accident. An auto policy is a contract between you and the insurance company, where you agree to pay the premium and the insurance company agrees to pay your losses as defined in your policy.  An auto insurance policy typically contains two basic parts:

Liability

This is the coverage you’re legally obligated to carry, which covers the bodily injury and property damage to others caused by you as a driver. Medical payments to others and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage are also listed in the liability section of your policy. Medical Payments cover all reasonable medical expenses that you or your passengers incur when you’re involved in an auto accident. Uninsured/underinsured coverage pays for your injuries and property damage as a result of a collision with an uninsured driver, or a driver with inadequate auto insurance limits. These are optional coverages in most states; however, opting out of medical payments or uninsured motorist coverage can be a costly mistake. Insurance Collective highly recommends you always carry both.

Collision + Comprehensive Coverage

Commonly referred to as “full coverage,” these are the deductibles you pay to have your insurance company repair the damage to your car. Collision coverage helps pay to repair or replace your car if it's damaged in an accident with another vehicle or object, such as a fence or a tree. Comprehensive coverage helps pay to replace or repair your vehicle if it's stolen or damaged in an incident that's not a collision. Comprehensive typically covers damage from hail, vandalism or other falling objects. If you're leasing or financing your car, collision and comprehensive coverage is typically required by the lender.

Home Owners Insurance

Home Owners Insurance Primer

Homeowners insurance is made up of coverages that help pay to repair or replace your home and belongings if they are damaged by certain perils, such as fire or theft. It may also help cover costs if you accidentally damage another person's property or if a visitor is injured at your home.

"How much homeowners insurance do I need?"

The simple answer is, it depends. Here are the coverages a home owners policy typically provides include the following:

  • The structure of your home, or “Dwelling Coverage.” You need enough to cover the cost of rebuilding your home at current construction costs (not the cost of the land and or market value of your home). For a quick estimate of the amount of insurance you need, multiply the total square footage of your home by local building costs per square foot.

  • The contents of your home, or “Personal Property Coverage.” Turn your house upside down and shake it out- everything that falls on the ground is covered under your Personal Property.

  • “Additional Living Expenses” – this covers you in if your home is damaged in such a way you have to live somewhere else during repairs.

  • “Personal Liability.” Similar to your auto insurance liability, this covers you in the event of an accident, in or out of your home, that results in bodily injury or property damage that you’re held legally responsible for. Personal liability claims could include medical bills, legal fees and more if a guest is injured on your property, as well as coverage for accidental damage you are legally responsible for on someone else’s property.

Homeowners insurance policies are not one-size-fits-all. While a typical policy comes with certain coverages, it's usually customized to meet each individual homeowner's unique needs. Reach out today to let Insurance Collective tailor a policy that’s right for you and your home.

Nationwide Pet Insurance FAQs

How does it work?

Take your pet to any licensed vet. Then, file a claim in just two easy steps:

1. Pay your veterinarian at the time of treatment.

2. Send us your claim form along with your invoice(s). We take it from there. We’ll process your claim and mail or electronically deposit your reimbursement faster than a beagle can sniff out a treat!

Can I use my vet?

Absolutely. You’re free to visit any licensed veterinarian, anywhere in the world—even specialists and emergency providers.

How does the reimbursement work?

We offer two kinds of reimbursement, so you can choose what works best for your budget. · Our Whole Pet with Wellness® plan reimburses 50, 70 or 90% of what you paid your veterinarian. * · Our Major Medical plan and Pet Wellness plan reimburse according to a benefit schedule, which caps reimbursement at a set amount for each condition or service. · With all our plans, simply pay your veterinarian at the time of treatment, and then send us the invoice. We'll send you a reimbursement check less any applicable deductible. ** * Items such as grooming, tax, waste disposal, boarding, or pre-existing conditions are not eligible for coverage. See policy documents for a complete list of exclusions. ** For eligible conditions.

How long does it take to get my reimbursements back?

Turn-around time varies, but in most cases, it’s within 30 days. If you haven’t received a reimbursement or been notified by that time you can check the status on your member portal or give us a call.

Does Nationwide pet insurance work like an HMO?

No. We think all decisions about your pet’s care should be between you and your veterinarian. With all our plans, you’re free to visit any vet and choose the course you feel is best for your pet. Simply pay your veterinarian at the time of treatment and send us the invoice for reimbursement.

What does it cover?

We offer plans with coverage for everything from acupuncture to anal glands to ACL tears. · Want coverage for the whole kitten ca-poodle? Our Whole Pet with Wellness® plan covers accidents, illnesses and wellness care. · Looking for accident and illness coverage only? Check out our Major Medical plan. · Just want coverage for routine stuff like checkups and vaccinations? Our Pet Wellness plan has two levels to choose from. For more detailed information, please see the “What’s Covered” page on the website.

What doesn’t it cover?

Like all pet insurers, we don't cover taxes, waste, grooming, boarding, or pre-existing conditions. But unlike other pet insurers, we have plans that cover pretty much everything else. That includes hereditary and congenital conditions, wellness care, exam fees and much more. Find a plan that covers what you’re looking for or check out our “What’s Covered” page on the my.petinsurance.com website.

Once I enroll, how long before my policy is effective?

The Whole Pet with Wellness® and Major Medical plans have a 14-day waiting period once your application is approved and we receive payment. The Wellness plan coverage begins 24 hours after your policy has been issued and we’ve received payment.

If I have a pet other than a dog or cat, can I enroll?

Yes! If you want coverage for your bird, rabbit, reptile or other exotic pet, you’ll find it only with Nationwide. To enroll in an Avian & Exotic Pet Plan, call 1-844-397-8939 to speak to a Nationwide pet insurance agent or see the “Bird & Exotic Pet Insurance” page on the website.

Can I cancel my policy before the term is up?

Absolutely. You can cancel anytime at my.petinsurance.com or by letting us know in writing. We even have a 100% money-back guarantee if you cancel within 10 days* of when your policy went into effect and we haven’t reimbursed you for any claims in that time. If you decide to cancel later on, no problem—we’ll simply refund your unused premium.
